Instructions

The journal Revista Uruguaya de Enfermería (RUE) is a scientific publication edited by the Faculty of Nursing of the University of the Republic of Uruguay and co-edited by the UruguayanNurses Association (ANU).

The RUE is formed as a space for academic contribution for teachers, graduates, undergraduate students, postgraduate students, specialties,masters and doctorates.

The RUE is proposed as a space to promote and deepen knowledge in the field of action of Nursing, also fulfilling the purposes of the Universityincluded in Art. 2 of Organic Law No. 12,549.

The journal  is edited in the form of continuous publication of content, with delivery of two issues per year.

Original and unpublished articles are received, product of research in the field of Nursing and other related Sciences. Articles, research, reflections,
essays, biographies, experience reports, theses are admitted. book recommendations, history of nursing, letters to the editor. The authors
will be responsible for the opinions, data and intellectual content developed in the articles. They assign to the Magazine the reproduction rights of the admitted articles.

• Our journal has no charges, that is, there are no costs for sending articles to be evaluated, nor for processing articles, nor forsubscription, nor any other type of cost.

Instructions

1) All Nursing professionals from the country or abroad and professionals from other disciplines may submit papers.

2) The works will be accepted preferably in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

3) The papers may deal with scientific issues related to care, teaching, research and extension in Nursing or related areas and others that areconsidered of interest and accepted by the Editorial and ScientificCouncils of the Journal.

4) The works must be original and unpublished (unpublished) in any other form of previous edition (printed or electronic). The followingDeclaration of Originality must be sent together with the work, as well as the Declaration of Contributions to the article.

5)The concepts, ideas and opinions that appear in the work as well as the adequacy and origin of the bibliographic citations are the soleresponsibility of the author(s) of the same and do not necessarilyreflect the position of the Editorial Board of the Journal.

6) The total and/or partial reproduction of the RUE articles may be made citing the source.

7) When the work is sent, a note declaring responsibility for its content and another transfer of copyright according to the attached models,signed by all the authors, will be attached.

8) Each ork will be sent for evaluation to members of the Scientific Committee, maintaining anonymity for both the authors and theevaluators. The works after their evaluation, will be considered
according to three modalities: accepted, accepted with suggestions or rejected.

9) The Editorial Board has full authority to decide on the publication or not of the works according to the evaluation carried out by members of
the Scientific Committee and to considerations such as originality, scientific merit, timeliness of the topic, knowledge, adequate definition of the topic in question. study and clarity in its exposition. The Editorial Board may introduce eventual modifications in
the work in order to adjust it to the editorial parameters of the Journal.

10) In research involving human beings, the author(s) must attach a written consent signed by the participants, which will be kept completelyconfidential by the Editorial Board.

11) The works must follow the following presentation rules:

Each article will be typed in a Word for Windows version 98 or later word processor, using Times New Roman font, size 12, line spacing 1.5.

The body of the text must present the titles of their respective sections in lowercase letters, in bold, centered and without a final period.

Quotes in quotation marks do not require the use of italics. The combined use of italics and quotation marks is redundant, since both resourcesperform
the same distinguishing function.

Brief textual quotations, of less than four lines, will be enclosed in quotation marks and in round letter format, forming part of the body of
the text.

Extensive textual citations, of more than four lines, will be indented with respect to the left margin at 2 cm and will be separated from theprevious and subsequent text by an interline space. In this case the
text will not be quoted and the font size will be reduced by one point.

Tables, graphs, figures, photos and other illustrations must be presented in separate files from the text, with their title, the corresponding
legends and the source from which they were obtained. They will be numbered consecutively, with Arabic numerals, in the order in which
they were cited in the text. Graphics, photos and other illustrations will be sent in jpg format. of good resolution. In the case of tables,
the excel file in which they were created must be sent.

Illustrations taken from other published works must be submitted with written permission from those responsible for the original publication. Thephotos must avoid the identification of people or otherwise attach a written permission for the publication of the same.

It is recommended to be very selective in the number of tables and figures, considering that graphic presentation is not always optimalfor effective communication.

12) each work will be structured as follows:

Cover: in which the title of the work will appear in bold with no more than 12 words; in Spanish, English and Portuguese; name and surname of each
author accompanied by title, position and place of work or professional insertion; email address of all authors and ORCID identifier number.

Summary: version of the summary in Spanish, English and Portuguese with their
respective descriptors, between 250 and 300 words for research papers,reflection, essays, thesis presentation, experience reports, critical reviews and biographies.

The summaries will present in a synthetic way the objectives of the work, the methodology used, the most relevant results and conclusions. It
will be accompanied by at least 5 keywords also in Spanish, English and

Portuguese. The descriptors or keywords are essential for the classification of the topic addressed. Of the set of descriptors, at

least 3 of them (in Spanish, Portuguese and English), their existence must be confirmed by the author(s) at the Bireme Health Sciences Descriptors electronic address: http:// decs.bvs.br.

Introduction: it will define the objectives of the work; Its justification and the most relevant aspects that allow knowing the subject of study will beexposed.

Text: it must present a logical sequence developing the work organized in different sections and drawing conclusions according to the type ofwork
presented.

Bibliographic references: They will be adjusted to the “Vancouver” Norms.

The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) offers guidance to authors in its publication Recommendations for the Conducting, Reporting,
Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Papers in Medical Journals (ICMJE Recommendations). The recommended style for references is based on the
NISO Z39.29-2005 (R2010) bibliographic references of the National Organization. Information Standards, as adapted by the National Library of Medicine for its databases.

In the case of a research paper or a thesis abstract, the following will be added to the first three points (Cover, Abstract, Introduction):

Method: the methodology used, the study population, the procedures and the type of analysis will be described.

Analysis and results: the most relevant observations and results found will be highlighted.

Discussion: interpretation of the results according to the reference framework used.

Conclusions: final considerations in relation to the objectives and the discussion of results.

Bibliographic references: They will conform to the "Vancouver" standards.

Annexes: they will be used when they provide essential information for understanding the work. Tables, graphs, photos, illustrations, diagrams can be included.

13) Categories of work: all will be prepared according to items 10 and 11 of this regulation.

Editorial: develops a topic of Nursing or a related discipline in the context of the topic
addressed in the respective volume. The selection of the author(s) of the editorial is the responsibility of the Editorial Board.

Research: Original and completed research related to Nursing or related areas, following
the conventional structure (introduction, method, results, conclusions). You can have up to 20 printed pages and 30 references.

Reflection: analysis of theoretical aspects of Nursing or related areas, product of a
process of reflection, discernment and careful consideration of the author(s) that can contribute to the deepening of professional issues.

You can have up to 20 printed pages and 15 references.

Essay: critical and original interpretation of issues related to care practice, teaching, research and extension of Nursing or related areas, which
contribute to the deepening of Nursing knowledge. You can have up to 15 printed pages and 15 references.

Experience report: description of some experience of assistance, teaching, research and extension in Nursing or related areas. You can have up to 10 pages and 15 references.

Critical review: critical and systematized evaluation of the scientific evolution of a topic in Nursing or related areas based on the literature considered pertinent.
The subject must be established, the procedures used, the interpretation of the Author(s) and conclusions. You can have up to 10 printed pages and 10 references.

Biography: life story of people who have contributed to Nursing. You can have up to 10 printed pages and 10 references.

History of Nursing: account of relevant events for the history of Nursing. You can have up to 10 pages and 20 references.

Review: critical synthesis or critical - interpretive analysis of the content of a work published
in the last 2 years. You can have up to 3 printed pages.

Summary of dissertations and theses: completed dissertations and theses that involve aspects of Nursing or related
areas presented in the last 2 years. It can have up to 20 pagesand 20 bibliographical references.

Student page: graduation productions of Nursing students or other related disciplines with the guidance of a qualified professor, who may or may not be a co-author of the work. You
can have up to 10 printed pages and 10 references.

Postgraduate student page: works and communications carried out during the course of specializations, master's degrees or doctorates.

You can have up to 20 printed pages and 10 references.

Scientific works: works that due to their characteristics of rigor, systematization, objectives, subject of study, methodology and structure can be
considered scientific but that do not exactly fit the categories defined for this Journal. They can have up to 15 printed pages and 20 references.

Interviews: carried out with prominent personalities, specialists or nursing researchers or those from other professions whose contributions are relevant and of
interest to the scientific community. You can have up to 10 printed pages and 10 references.

Brief communications: reports of situations (analysis of assistance situations), points of view (qualified and contemporary opinions on Nursing issues), technical
reports, institutional reports that contain new and relevant data for Nursing or related areas presented in a concise and brief manner. . You
can have up to 5 printed pages and 5 references.

Information:

brief documents and reports about the Nursing situation at a national or international level or about events of interest to the professionalcommunity, such as conferences, congresses, courses, etc.

Letters to the Editor: written communication sent by readers to the Editor about articles already published in the Journal. You can have up to 1 printed page.

The journal uses anti-plagiarism detection methods: Crossref's Similarity Check is used.

To deal with a case of plagiarism, the RUE follows the guidelines included in the organization chart of the International Committee on Ethics
inScientific Publication - COPE 

Data availability

The authors of the original articles will be able to submit their article informing if the data set of their research is available and, if so, where it is accessed.

In the event that the author has his research data on a server, he must declare it in a note within the article.

Example:

"The data set supporting the results of this study are available at..."

Otherwise, you must include a sentence within the article stating the following:

"The data set that supports the results of this study is not available".

Digital preservation policies

The United National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proposes a notion of Digital Preservation as "the processesaimed at
guaranteeing the permanent accessibility of digital objects".

The RUE recognizes the importance and interest of preserving the content of our publication for future generations of readers and complies with the
following procedures:

1 - Identifies the definitive electronic documents for publication.

2 - Backup, in non-proprietary formats, the final files, on an external hard drive.

3- Once published, backups of the software (Open Journal System) and itscomplete content are made on the institution's servers.
