Abstract

TICINO FRANZIA, María Virginia. Curricular flexibility at Udelar: student perception. InterCambios [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.2, pp.77-86.  Epub Dec 01, 2023. ISSN 2301-0118.  https://doi.org/10.29156/inter.10.2.8.

In recent years, and in the framework of the Second Reform, Universidad de la República (Udelar) has been actively involved in a process of profound transformation. One of the central axes of transformation corresponds to the curriculum and one of the central criteria to be considered is that of curricular flexibility. This implies the possibility of profound changes for the renewal and democratization of higher education as well as the diversification of curricular itineraries according to the decisions and autonomy of students with respect to their trajectory.

Through this paper we seek to approach the issue of curricular flexibility in the university degree within the framework of these transformations, paying attention to the students’ experience. To this end, we recovered perceptions of students of the Bachelor’s degree in Education at Udelar, integrating their voice to the theoretical discussion on the subject in question. In this sense, it is expected to account for the relationship between curricular flexibility and the heterogeneous reality of the subjects, facing the new challenges, considering their needs and interests, as well as their potentialities to produce innovative improvements in teaching.

Keywords : curricular flexibility; university; students.
