This paper aims to analyze the treatment that permanent crimes have in the area of criminal statutes of limitation, because this class of crimes have special characteristics in relation to time and, as the criminal statutes of limitation are precisely the legal recognition of the incidence of this in Criminal responsibility has an impact on the way in which it is computed, on the manner in which crimes committed while executing a permanent crime must be analyzed and, finally, as an element able of interrupting the course of the criminal statutes of limitation of a prior crime, in those legal systems that recognize this effect, like the Chilean andthe Uruguayan. From this analysis it is shown that a model based on special preventive considerations finds, also in the treatment of permanent crime, reasons to be rejected.
