Every day, we witness the advancements in technology. We see the progression of blockchain and its applications, as well as the growth of artificial intelligence. Blockchain holds many potential applications, including smart contracts. This article takes a closer look at smart contracts, seeking to highlight the adaptation challenges that smart contracts face within Uruguayan law in order to thrive and enhance their usage, once it's agreed upon that they fall under the general contract regime. The treatment of the subject has been conducted without aiming for exhaustiveness and with references to the current context
