DALLE, Pablo. Intergenerational social mobility in Argentina: opportunities without class structure openness. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.37, pp.139-165. ISSN 0797-5538.
The article analyses trends on Intergenerational Social Mobility in Argentina across birth cohorts, emphasizing upward mobility opportunities’ from working class origins. Data come from six probabilistic surveys between 2003 and 2010 directed by PhD Raúl Jorrat (Instituto de Investigaciones Gino Germani - Universidad de Buenos Aires). Social mobility rates and three ways loglineal models have been applied to explore changes in the openness of the class structure. The observed patterns suggest that the Argentinean class structure is quite open in comparison with other Latin American countries considering structural upward mobility opportunities from working class origins to the service class. Nevertheless, controlling the structural mobility and considering cohort analysis, we observe a persistent class inequality of mobility opportunities, and if there would have been changes, they tend to strengthen the class origin effect, especially among men
