The practice of regional anesthesia in patients who receive drugs that alter the physiological equilibrium of the coagulation is being done frequently. The possibility of an hemorragic phenomenon at spinal cord level after a puncture, worried the anaesthesiologist. So, is essential to know the mechanisms of anticoagulation and the pharmacological properties of the drugs in use to be able to define the appropiate moment to do the regional block. We have reviewed the mechanisms of action of the main drugs associated to these techniques and we stablished the rules that have to be taken to allow us to associate the regional anaesthesia to the anticoagulation.
