Resumen
DANANI, Claudia. The Argentinean Social Protection System: seeking for the model that it never had, 2002-2013. Rev. Urug. Cienc. Polít. [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.spe, pp.113-134. ISSN 1688-499X.
The article focuses on the reforms developed on the so-called “state social interventions” in Argentina during the “long first decade” of the 21st century (2002-2013). Labour policies, two policies of the Social Security System (pension system and family allowances for children, called Asignación Universal por Hijo) and educational policies are all analysed. The article states that changes in labour policies as well as in labour market and progressive social policies have improved social protection for broad sectors of the population. Restrictions for some of these improvements are also analysed: scarce institutionalization, not guaranteed benefits and political and cultural opposition against “rights approach” redistributive policies mainly by middle-class groups
