ROLDAN, Luis Ángel y ZABALETA, Verónica. Performance and Self-Perception in Reading Comprehension among College Students. Cuad. Investig. Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.8, n.1, pp.77-96. ISSN 1510-2432. https://doi.org/10.18861/cied.2017.8.1.2640.
This paper is intended to research on the relationship between performance and self-perception in reading comprehension among Psychology students at the National University of La Plata, Argentina. It arises from the concern over the reading difficulties surveyed, even at university level, which imply difficulties in learning and further professional performance. It is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which 50 1st year and 40 5th year students were examined. Based on the performance, two groups were identified: good comprehenders and bad comprehenders. Differences are observed in some domains both in performance and self-perception of difficulties in comprehension between beginner and advanced students, and between good and bad comprehenders. Possible explanatory hypotheses and educational implications of the study are discussed, revaluing the importance of evaluation for the effective intervention in text comprehension.
