This work aimed to share and analyze, critically, situations that underlie a psychosocial research process in the sports field. It has the particularity of having arisen at the intersection between the professional experience that was carried out in the accompaniment, assistance and psychological orientation of male soccer players from a club in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, and the beginning of field work, in the framework of the scientific academic production carried out to access the title of Master in Psychosocial Intervention and Research. In the analysis, four dimensions were problematized: the construction of the role as a researcher, the challenge of carrying out field work in a known context, the link with key informants and the crossroads between demand and assignment, in which the academic production derived from said practice. To address them, the field records produced within the framework of the ethnographic research process were recovered. Finally, it was argued that the recognition of the dilemmas, tensions and negotiations derived from the methodological elements was presented as a central ethical-political dimension for the production of knowledge.ge.
